Royal Botanic Gardens

Royal Botanic Gardens is one of the leading tourist attractions within the very heart of the green parkland that extends south of Yarra River, and is close to the CBD. The Royal Botanic Gardens was established in 1846 and has been rated as one the world's best botanical gardens of its kind. The gardens cover a 40 hectare area and has over 50,000 plants, which include numerous rare species. Over 1.5 million people visit the gardens every year. The Ian Potter Foundation Children's Garden has been designed to encourage the gardeners of tomorrow, while the Aboriginal Heritage Walk is a very popular tour that explores indigenous Australians and their rich heritage. Melbourne Cricket Ground

The MCG has a 100,000 capacity and history that dates back to 1853. It is considered to be one of the greatest stadiums in the world. The Melbourne Cricket Ground is home of the Australian Rules Football, the birthplace for Test Cricket and main stadium for the 2006 Commonwealth Games and 1956 Olympic Games, making it an integral part of Melbourne, which is Australia's sporting capital. Every day there are 75-minute tours that take visitors on a trip through sporting history, which incorporates the Olympic Museum and Australian Gallery of Sport. Visitors can also watch a game of football in the winter and cricket during the summer. Melbourne Park is directly opposite the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which hosts the Australian Open tennis tournament each year in January.
